However, we must remember that while our economy is reopening, the pandemic is not over. It is critical that we take the appropriate precautions to protect ourselves, our family, our neighbors, and those we come into contact with. Here is a quick review of this week: May 12: Members of my cabinet and I addressed Cleveland residents at the Department of Community Development’s 2020-21 Action Plan Virtual Public Meeting on Facebook Live. This public meeting provided residents with an overview of the planned use of funds for programs including the 2020 Entitlement & CARES Act and my Restart CLE plan. I also took questions for residents on topics ranging from public resources to financial assistance. Watch the public meeting here. May 13: The City of Cleveland Division of Police commemorated Police Week with a socially distanced salute to fallen heroes at the Greater Cleveland Peace Officer’s Memorial. While the memorial ceremony was closed to the public, residents tuned in to Facebook Live to honor officers who have lost their lives in the line of duty. View footage of the ceremony here. May 14: City of Cleveland employees began a door-to-door education campaign throughout the City to help reduce the spread of coronavirus as part of the Restart CLE plan’s Community Education and Awareness Campaign. These trained employees will educate, inform and distribute printed materials in neighborhoods that have a high number of confirmed coronavirus cases to ensure that Clevelanders have equal access to crucial coronavirus prevention tips. This week, employees are canvassing the Collinwood, Slavic Village and Lee-Harvard neighborhoods. Next week, the teams will move through different neighborhoods beginning with Detroit-Shoreway. In March 2020, I announced that Cleveland Water and Cleveland Public Power (CPP) will suspend disconnections in response to the coronavirus pandemic. Cleveland Water customers who have recently experienced disconnection should contact Cleveland Water at 216-664-3130 to discuss options for the restoration of service. CPP customers who have recently experienced disconnection should call 216-664-4600 to discuss options for the restoration of service. As of May 15, Cleveland Water has restored service for 1,185 customers and CPP has restored service for 93 customers. As of May 15, there are 41 COVID-19 City resident fatalities and 1,108 cases of coronavirus in the City of Cleveland. If you have general questions about the coronavirus, click on the buttons below.
