Williams and other local leaders on the “Justice For All: A Conversation about Race, Equality and Inclusion” radio interview, moderated by longtime news anchor, Romona Robinson. During the conversation, we discussed important topics such as police reform, systemic racism, social justice and other socio-economic issues. Listen to the full conversation here. Here are more important updates from this week: June 17: I announced that I will be hosting my next tele town hall on Thursday, June 25, 2020 at 5:45 p.m. Residents are invited to join the virtual event where I will discuss COVID-19, racial disparity, public safety and more. I will also take time to answer citizen’s questions. The event is free to join and will also be livestreamed to the City’s Facebook page. To register and participate in my upcoming tele town hall, click here. June 19: I swore in Karrie Howard as the new Director of Public Safety. In this role, Howard will oversee operations for the Divisions of Police, Fire and Emergency Medical Office. Prior to his role as Director of Public Safety, Howard served as the Assistant Director of Public Safety for the City of Cleveland, Assistant Prosecutor for the City of Cleveland, Assistant Prosecuting Attorney for Cuyahoga County and Assistant U.S. Attorney for the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Northern District of Ohio. To watch the swearing in ceremony, click here. I recently announced a grant program available for businesses impacted by the civil unrest of May 30, 2020. The City of Cleveland has been engaged with Cuyahoga County, the Greater Cleveland Partnership, Downtown Cleveland Alliance (DCA) and the Cleveland Foundation to provide assistance to re-opening businesses. Impacted businesses throughout the City are encouraged to apply to receive financial assistance. To apply through DCA, click here. The City of Cleveland Division of Waste Collection will conduct bulk pick-up during the weeks of June 22, June 29, July 6 and July 13. I appreciate residents’ patience as we adjust our plans to keep our essential workers safe through the coronavirus pandemic. Residents are advised that normal set out guidelines must be followed and that no more than three bulk items are permitted. To view the guidelines, click here. In March 2020, I announced that Cleveland Water and Cleveland Public Power (CPP) will suspend disconnections in response to the coronavirus pandemic. Cleveland Water customers who have recently experienced disconnection should contact Cleveland Water at 216-664-3130 to discuss options for the restoration of service. CPP customers who have recently experienced disconnection should call 216-664-4600 to discuss options for the restoration of service. As of June 19, Cleveland Water has restored service for 1,435 customers and CPP has restored service for 121 customers. As of June 19, there are 75 COVID-19 City resident fatalities and 1,896 cases of coronavirus in the City of Cleveland. If you have general questions about the coronavirus, click on the buttons below.
