We Shall Not Forget

We Shall Not Forget

On August 1, 2007, during the evening rush hour, the Interstate 35W bridge in Minneapolis collapsed. Thirteen people were killed and 145 were injured, making it one of the deadliest bridge collapses in US history. Unfortunately, just like the I-35 span, over 56,000 bridges in America are considered structurally deficient. The risk for a new disaster only grows with time, yet Washington has not been able to work together to fix it.  I-35 Bridge Collapse The Senate could make sure these bridges get fixed right now. The House already passed a robust infrastructure bill called the Moving Forward Act, and instead of including it in and passing the next round of stimulus funding, the Senate just adjourned for summer recess. The Senate’s inaction further endangers our communities and severely hurts our already suffering economy. Tell the Senate to include the Moving Forward Act in the next COVID-19 assistance bill and to rebuild America … NOW! As we shared yesterday, the Senate plan this week that was meant to address COVID-19 and the national economic recession was blatantly inadequate. That’s why we need your help now to make sure Senators know they must address our crumbling infrastructure in the legislation they agree upon. Call your Senator today.   Thank you and please stay safe,
